Those traditional games, strewn across the park grass, included neolttwigi, a seesaw-like endeavor that proved especially popular with a group of boys who exercised their legs trying to bounce one another off the wooden plank.

The high school students set up in the culture booth could’ve filled visitors in on the origins of the game (the story goes, according to those playing it Saturday, that it began as a way for girls confined within tall walls to get a look at the lads on the outside).

“We’re just trying to tell them about things that are unique to our culture,” said Leena Liu, an LCF resident who attends Harvard-Westlake School in Studio City and is among the founding members of the local Korean American Youth Association.

“We educate other cultures about our culture,” said Woo Jin Jung, a senior at La Cañada High School. “We have info on the history of the country and what to do if you visit — basically anything you could want to know about Korean culture.”
